Looking for Podcasts About Gambling Addiction and Recovery? Here Are Some We Like

One of the most overwhelming parts of this journey is figuring out where to turn for reliable information. When we first started searching for answers, we found ourselves drowning in content—some helpful, some not so much. Over time, through our own research and recommendations from other parents walking this same path, we’ve put together a curated collection of resources that have made a difference. These are the books, podcasts, and videos that have helped us understand what our kids are going through—and what we can do about it.

In this second post in a three-part series, we share with you what we love to listen to. (Catch Part 1—our book list —here.)

Sometimes the most comforting thing is hearing someone else put words to what we’re living through. These podcasts let us listen in on people in recovery from gambling as they share their journeys—the turning points, the setbacks, the little moments that finally added up to change. We often recognize pieces of our own kids in their stories, and hearing people who’ve found their way back reminds us that hope is real and recovery does happen.

We also get to hear from the people who walk alongside them: experts, therapists, prevention leaders, and other loved ones who’ve been down this road too. Their insights and honesty make this complicated world feel a little less overwhelming. And through all these voices, one message is clear—we are not alone. There is so much hope out there, and the gamblers, families, and professionals in this community are some of the most generous, kind, and resilient people you’ll ever meet. And they all want to help you.

The Modern Meeting

Recovery doesn’t look the same for everyone — and neither should the conversation around it. Creator and Host Adam Lyons hosts The Modern Meeting Podcast, bringing together voices from every corner of addiction. Those with lived experience, those affected, and those working in the space will share their stories, struggles, and hard-earned hope. We enjoy Adam’s big personality and honesty, and the conversations are always inspiring. (Also find on your favorite podcast platform)

All In also brings together experts, clinicians, and loved ones to explore what addiction looks like, how healing happens, and what support really means. It’s real, compassionate, and full of hope — reminding listeners that recovery is possible and no one has to face this alone.

Fold ‘Em: Help for Gambling Problems

This low-key podcast originated in Canada and features a gambling therapist educating the public and bringing on guests to offer insight and experience. Most episodes are not parent or young adult-focused, but we found them helpful to learn more about the disease of gambling disorder.

The Broke Girl Society

Host Christina Cook draws on her own lived experience to bring empathy and understanding to the unique challenges, shame, and stigma experienced by women suffering gambling harm. Her conversations with guests highlight curiosity, hope, setbacks, and resilience.

Evive Live

Evive Live is a conversation series at the intersection of gambling harm and behavioral health. Hosted by Adam Lyons (The Modern Meeting) and Christina Cook (The Broke Girl Society), each episode features clinicians, researchers, treatment providers, peer specialists, and people in recovery having the honest conversations the field needs — about what gambling disorder really looks like, what treatment actually works, and what it takes to build a recovery that lasts. Wager Danger

Access to legalized gambling in the US is at an all-time high, and sports book betting apps, video slot machines, lotteries and casinos seem to be everywhere. How does the increased access to legalized gambling affect all of us? Are there unique harms that we haven’t considered? These are some of the questions we seek to explore as we chat with behavioral health professionals, academics, gambling disorder experts and individuals in recovery from gambling addiction.
