NBC News All Bets Are Off Concerns Grow Over Minors Betting 3-19-26

NBC News – All Bets Are Off

He got hooked on betting at age 11. By college he gambled 15 hours a day.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have our President, Kim Freudenberg, speak with NBC News and shine a much-needed light on the growing crisis of youth gambling.

In the interview, Kim and her son, Kurt, courageously share pieces of their story—a journey that began quietly with gambling through video games and, over the course of a decade, escalated into online sports betting and crypto casinos. Their story offers a powerful and personal glimpse into how easily this can happen, and how difficult it can be for families to recognize the warning signs before it’s too late.

For Kim, this is more than a story—it’s a mission. Through her work with Parents Standing Together, she is determined to make sure other parents don’t have to navigate this alone or in the dark, as she once did. By sharing their experience, she hopes to help families recognize the signs earlier, start conversations sooner, and find support faster.

But awareness alone is not enough.

Kim also uses her voice to call for stronger protections for young people. Right now, the systems in place are falling short—and too many kids are slipping through the cracks. We cannot continue to accept this as the norm. Our children deserve better, and it’s on all of us to demand change.

We encourage you to read the full article below and watch the embedded video to hear directly from Kim and Kurt.
